Understanding brand values and image

ha! ha! bar & grill

In 2005 HA HA Bar and Canteen having been recently acquired by Laurel Pub Company, asked Business Blueprints to help them understand how HA HA was perceived by both their current customers and lapsed customers. This would enable them to re position the brand to retain all the values that were recognized and appreciated as being intrinsic to HA HA and at the same time to develop and improve those aspects that were not valued.

We conducted a series of focus groups with groups of users and lapsed users to first discover how HA HA was perceived, we also conducted quantitative research to identify the KPI data on how users currently used HA HA and what they liked and disliked. We then presented the findings back to the key decision makers; clearly identifying the strengths and opportunities for the brand.

The next stage was to conduct more focus groups to present a way forward in terms of alternative brand propositions, logos, interior designs and menus. The result of this research enabled Business Blueprints to present “ha ha Bar and Grill” which has since and continues to be implemented in sites across the UK generating a significant and immediate uplift in sales.
